SUMMARY:Shared Work Program & Unemployment Compensation Seminar
DESCRIPTION:Shared-Work Program Presentation\n\nThe Department of Labor and Industry received a grant to promote and enroll employers in the Shared-Work Program. Shared-Work is a great tool that allows an employer to temporarily reduce the work hours of a group of employees while supplementing their lost wages with partial UC benefits. The goal is to avoid employee layoffs. The program empowers employers to retain a trained and qualified workforce during periods of\n\n slowdown. The employer can then quickly ramp up operations without the expense of recruiting\, hiring and \n\nretraining new employees. \n\n \n\nRelief from Charges Presentation\n\nEmployers are concerned about controlling their Unemployment Compensation costs. One of the ways to \n\ncontrol these costs is to file for relief from charges. This presentation explains what relief from charges is\, which employers are eligible to file for it\, how the employers are notified that their account may be charged\, how to file for relief from charges\, how separation issues affect the employer's eligibility for relief\, and appeal rights.\n\n \n\nPresented by \n\nNancy Smithbauer\, Workforce Development Representative for \n\nUnemployment Compensation\, Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry. \n\n \n\nNancy has been employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry for 18 years\, having been a Claims Examiner for nearly 10 of those years. Nancy helps employers and claimants understand the \n\nUnemployment Compensation Law and assists with navigating the process to ensure the proper application of the program.
